Kinika Young
Director, Legal Advocacy, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Kinika Young is the Director of Legal Advocacy at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the Office of Public Policy. Kinika directs LLS's strategic engagement in litigation impacting patients, recruits pro bono support for LLS-led amicus briefs, and partners with aligned organizations to advance LLS's advocacy goals in courts and government oversight agencies. Prior to joining LLS in 2022, Kinika worked as the Senior Director of Health Policy and Equity at the Tennessee Justice Center, where she led statewide efforts to inform stakeholders and advocate for health policies to protect and improve healthcare access and health outcomes for Medicaid-eligible people.
Kinika began her legal career as a litigator at the law firm of Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC, where she practiced for over 10 years and became a partner in 2015, primarily representing healthcare providers in disputes with managed care organizations. She attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and earned her J.D. at Tulane University Law School in New Orleans.
