WASHINGTON, D.C. – (May 24, 2023) – èƵtoday announced that President & CEO Matthew D. Eyles has decided to step down from the organization later this year, after nearly five years of dedicated leadership as CEO. The èƵBoard of Directors was informed of Eyles’ personal decision and has accepted his resignation effective October 2, 2023. The Executive Committee of the èƵBoard will commence a national search for Eyles’ replacement.

We are saddened to see him go but wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
Through Eyles’ tenure – nearly five years as CEO and more than eight years at èƵin total – èƵconsistently achieved key advocacy successes and built a stronger organization through growth in membership and non-dues revenues. Among AHIP’s major advocacy and reputational accomplishments during his time as CEO include significant growth in Medicare Advantage, Medicaid managed care and ACA marketplace enrollment; permanently eliminating the health insurance tax; enacting legislation to protect consumers from surprise medical bills; advancing health equity efforts through the Vaccine Community Connectors program and other key initiatives; helping secure an extension of the enhanced ACA premium subsidies through 2025; and rebranding èƵto recognize the industry’s role extends well beyond health insurance coverage to providing solutions that are “Guiding Greater Health.” Eyles has been named annually to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare list and to Washington DC’s 500 Most Influential People by Washingtonian.
