ELP Criteria and Benefits

ELP Fellows are leaders who are willing to ask the tough questions. They have an acute interest in leading our health care system through positive change. They have the passion to find solutions to health care’s most complex challenges.

Do you meet the criteria? You must:

  • Current employment at the senior-level (or equivalent) in a health insurance plan.
  • Currently be in a senior-level or above position and demonstrate a high level of professionalism and excellent performance.*
  • Be interested in continuing to develop skills to elevate yourself into a more executive-level, C-Suite leadership position and demonstrate strong executive leadership and succession ability.
  • Display an unwavering commitment to the health insurance community and your organization and have the desire to expand your career opportunities within them.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in health care and potential to drive the industry forward.

ELP Selection Criteria*

  • Current employment at the senior-level (or equivalent) in a health insurance plan
  • A minimum of five years of health care experience, including approximately two years in a health insurance plan
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited academic institution
  • Since health care is an ever-evolving industry, individuals employed by a health plan who lack the required experience, but have a unique experiential and educational background, may for consideration as a Candidate. An explanatory “Letter of Recommendation” from their CEO should accompany such a request.

ELP-MD Selection Criteria*

  • Current employment within a health insurance plan
  • A minimum of two years with a health insurance plan in a management position (e.g. medical director, associate medical director, vice president for medical affairs)
  • Current license to practice medicine (MD or DO)
  • Five years of clinical experience
  • Since health care is an ever-evolving industry, individuals employed by a health plan who lack the required experience, but have a unique experiential and educational background, may for consideration as a Candidate. An explanatory “Letter of Recommendation” from their CEO should accompany such a request.
